Before the City Commission considers annexing property that could pave the way for one of the largest developments in our community, these key questions should be answered:
Welaunee
One of Tallahassee’s largest cluster of developments is taking shape in northeast Tallahassee. Two major decisions underway will determine what is built and who pays for the infrastructure needed to support it.
Buc-ee’s
Buc-ee’s is seeking approval for a much larger interstate sign than current rules allow, raising questions about light pollution, precedent and impacts on current and future residents.
Lake Jackson
The proposed annexation of more than 1,700 acres near Lake Jackson has been withdrawn for now. However, the future of our community’s most environmentally sensitive land remains unresolved.

Welaunee: Canopy Developer Seeks Changes to Existing Agreement
Before the City Commission: September 9
The City is considering significant changes to the agreement governing the Canopy development in Welaunee, including changes to transportation obligations and development rights that could remain in place for years.
Welaunee: Arch Rezoning
Before the Development Review Committeee: September 9
A proposed plan would establish the development framework for 1,227 acres, including thousands of homes and substantial commercial development. Important questions remain about open space, environmental review, transportation and more.
Buc-ee’s Sign
Buc-ee’s is seeking approval for an interstate sign substantially larger than what current regulations allow, near an area where approximately 680 homes are planned.
